Conservation

preserve the nature
Currently, at Safari Mallorca, we manage four main conservation initiatives, including our participation in the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP) for hippopotamuses.

In addition, we developed three projects focused on the conservation of native fauna, specifically:

  • SeamTurtle orbicularis emys
  • SeamTurtle Testudo hermanni
  • green toad Bufo viridis

In the case of turtles, as these are protected species, we participate in breeding programs authorized by the Regional Ministry. As part of these programs, we conduct an annual census to record the number of specimens. In the event of losses, we notify the Regional Ministry in writing and attach a photograph of the shell. We also record hatchlings, which remain in a separate facility within the parents' habitat. These hatchlings are then made available to the Regional Ministry for use, if deemed necessary, in repopulation projects in threatened areas.
